MAIN TYPES OF TRADITIONAL RESIDENTIAL HOUSES IN THE REPUBLIC OF YEMEN

Abstract
It is shown that the main type of traditional residential buildings in the Republic of Yemen is a house tower a few floors. This type of design solutions was formed through a long historical development and were due to the need of security. It is also shown that currently, because of the diversity of tower structures there are four main types of such structures. Planning develops vertically, with the family members built their homes around the main tower.
